Family First

I knew that when the time was right for you it would happen. Look no need to apologize. I really want this book in the hands of folks who are passionate about words so it's not like I'm itching to make quick sales. I value your love for our people and with that I think your purchase of this book and using it as part of your book club would be a grand idea. So when you can do what you can. How many should I hold on the side for you and the club? Thank You and bless your family with your aura.

I am currently reading Dr. Akbar's "Breaking the Chains...

...of Psychological Slavery". I'll have to add "Community of Self" to my list. My book club read "Know Thy Self" for our March meeting and the next book on our roster is "The Mis-Education of the Negro". Our assignment for our April meeting is to be 'reconstructionists' (re: "Know Thy Self") and devise solutions to the problems Dr. Woodson outlines in "The Mis-Education". It should be a doosey. I'd love for us transfer our theories into practice. Does your school have a website? After reading "Know Thy Self" I have become increasingly antsy about African-centered education.

Greetings Sis

Thank you for extending the invitation of sisterhood :)

Is it just me or is ymib fertile ground for forward movement?! This network is an absolute magnet for strong, rooted, Spirited, action-oriented sistas. I admire your mission in life and I will to achieve the same. Where is your school located? I'm actually in the process of reading Dr. Na'im Akbar's 'Know Thy Self' where he calls for African-centered education versus European-American training. Have you read it yet?
