I am happy to have stumbled across this site. I hope to find what I am looking for, which is inspiration and wisdom through relating with you and your life experiences. Last year I began my journey to self-satisfication. I had to step back and understand what "me time" meant, a phrase my mother always told me I never gave myself enough of. I find pride in my flaws and love the simple things in life. With deciding to go to grad school and recently ending a five year relationship, I'm just trying to find my way through it all! I expect to grow and learn something new everyday until I leave this world. I am loving the articles thus far!
I am also in transition from relaxed to natural. Encouraging words are needed. I'm enjoying it, but I do find myself struggling to love it everyday. Some days I want to give up, but I focus on the end result which keeps me going! I have my first consultation next week which I'm driving an hour to get to. Kentucky isn't very diverse in the hair game among other cultural arenas, so to find a beautician who guides you through the natural process is a rare find.
Thank you to the creator of this site. I hope to share laughs, stories, hard times, and praise reports with many of you!
Until then...have a beautiful day!
A word....
We are here for you my sister.
I have been natural for almost 4 years and every day is something new. It took a while for me to learn my hair and reverse the perverse thinking that my hair was BAD. Most of us were taught that by our mothers (who didn't know any better) and society in general that there was something wrong with the hair that the CREATOR gave us and it needed to be FIXED. How well I remember the days of sitting on my back porch hollering and squirming as a child while my mother tried her best to right that wrong with a HOTCOMB. Man, gone are the days!! Let the internet be your friend, there are plenty of sites that deal specifically in natural hair care and even a couple groups you can become a member of - in addition to this one.
PEACE!!
