Are there any mothers out there who give their children tea?...decaffeinated ofcourse...I was just wondering, if anyone knew of some teas that are good/healthy to give to younger children instead of concentrated fruit juices?

Re:Children and Tea
Peace Sis,
My son and daughter LOVE tea. Chai is their favorite. You can buy decaf or better yet make your own. Just buy the loose herbs in bulk and store in a canister or jar. I use cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, peppercorn, cloves and star of anise. Also Kids Cuppa by Repulic of Tea and Passion by Tazo are two of my son's favorites. I recommend loose tea and a good tea press as opposed to bagged tea (or tea dust as I call it- LOL). Experiment with homemade herbal teas ( they actually contain no tea leaves and therefore no caffeine). My kids love watching me prepare their tea and I make it very ceremonial. They feel super special when we have tea.
Hope this helps.

Re:Children and Tea
thank you for your reply! SuperNatural! yeah, I will check out those brands you mentioned. I have made fresh herbal teas on occasion. I love chai teas a swell. When I was in Washington D.C, a friend of mine from Nigeria made a fresh batch of it and it was the best chai tea I have EVER had, I wish I had the recipe. I will have to try adding the peppercorn and star of anise to mine. When you sya you make your tea very ceremonial...what do you mean? Would love to hear more! Thanks again for the helpful input.
Ps: how do you usually sweeten your teas for your kids?
Re:Children and Tea
Peace,
By ceremonial, I just meant that I have special tea cups for them and a special press that I use. I pretty much make a production out of it. More like a japanese tea ceremony or british tea time, as opposed to just dropping a bag in ;)
And for sweetener, if they want it I use organic grade B maple syrup or organic sucanat/turbinado sugar. I tend to use very flavorful teas though and get them to appreciate the complexities of the flavors instead of dumping sugar in.
Feel free to let me know if I can be of any more help
