The difference between loving someone and being in love with them is this. When you love someone you want the best for them, you are always content to be around them and be there for them. You have a friendship above anything else and you respect them to the utmost. Not to say you all never fall out, but when you do, you work it out. You'd miss them if they weren't in your life, but you feel fine even if you don't speak for a while.

Now being In Love with someone is different. When you are in love with someone your good sense leaves you. To be in love is more like a chemical that hits the brain and makes you crazy for another person, even though that person doesn't deserve any feelings from us or can't reciprocate it. There is a connection, a chemistry, a physical attraction, and emotional feeling where actually the heart and soul just captures one another. At this stage, unconditional love kicks in, for love conquers all. You think about them all the time and smile all day like a fool. When you are around them at first you may not be yourself (if you're usually quiet you babble and you clam up if you usually talk a blue streak). You want to make them happy and hope to God they feel the same way. Theirs is the first voice you want to hear in the morning and the last you want to hear before you fall asleep.

When you are in love with someone it's not always good times, but the bad times can actually feel worse because you care so much more. You include this person in your dreams for the future and say a silent prayer every night that they don't disappoint you. When you fall out of love with someone that you were once head over heels for, THAT'S IT!! IT'S DONE!! It's too hard to go back to being friends. Like the song says... 'I love you too much to ever start liking you, let's leave this story at an end.'
