Tune In To Instinct

The words 'instinct' and 'sixth-sense' seem to be used more and more these days, but how do we know if we are really tuning in to it? Many of us are taught that the reality of life should be logical and based on solid facts - which is not a negative thing to work with. However, that perception is just one side of the coin. All the focus on this side may be hiding the potential for another part of us to truly awaken into real life situations. Our instinct can guide us, sometimes much faster than waiting for the evidence to appear.

Watch out for intention:Let's start from the very beginning of your connection with a situation, person or place. Intention from the start is a sensible first step to determining what your instinct is telling you.

What was the real intention behind your connect?Examine it from your side and from the side of the situation or people involved. Are you feeling any selfish reasons behind it? Is it a one-way gain situation? Are there any feelings guiding you in the direction that what you are connecting to is purely for the sake of the other? If yes, are you happy with this?

Be honest with your Self and the intentions involved. Use your instant feelings to decide whether or not you like the intention that brought you to this place. If you haven't made up your mind, seek for more information.

The chances of intention changing are usually slim so work with the initial feelings. It is not selfish to want to gain from it, but it is selfish if your intention is to drain the other. If you aren't gaining in a two way mutual connection, something or someone will be drained of their own energy source.

Attraction or distraction?Yes, there are many attractive things in this world that may or may not be good for you. If you have already worked out what the intentions are and what you feel about it is positive, then now is the time is to tune into your thoughts on whether this attraction is simply a distraction from the path you wish to take. Healthy attraction to anything is there to help you move along your journey in a positive way, not to pass time away from the ultimate goals. Procrastinating by doing other activities (that seem attractive) is a perfect example. Is this attraction to a situation or person something that will enrich your life for the better? How do your goals fit with this? Do you see this as a positive step towards what you truly want in your life right now? Sometimes, we find our Self attracted to something and don't quite know why. With time, patience and keeping in touch with your feelings, you will figure out whether this is a positive attraction.

Is there any resistance? This is probably the most important feeling to watch out for. If, for any reason, there is resistance (big or small), ask your Self why? Is this fear of the unknown and change? Or is this really a feeling that is telling you to stay away for your own good? Be still, watch and listen.

TrustIf you are willing to explore you're your instincts further, you will need to examine how much you really trust your Self and the decisions you make. Are you influenced by others easily? Do you go by others expectations or are you comfortable with making your own decisions, even if you are alone in it? Trust that what your instincts are telling you are there for a reason. Once you establish trust in your own choices, you are ready to explore what instinct has to offer.

With a little patience and observation, you will be able to tune in and find out how valuable this tool is.

Enjoy the learning process!
