We all go through so many ups and downs within our lives, and the one thing that we hear from each other the most when asked how we handle our lives, is that we're thankful. But, what does being thankful really mean? Is it a mere confession with your mouth of faith, hope, persistence, and optimism, or does being thankful take much more than verbal words to be fully embraced?
Being thankful is not just defined by us saying that we are, but by showing it as well. When you say that you are thankful for your life, then you should take the time to nurture your body and your spirit by eating properly and reading books that grows your spirituality. If you say that you are thankful for the shelter of your home, then you should always strive to keep your homes in order and beautiful to the eye. If you say that you are thankful for your family, then do your best to keep in touch with them and celebrate their special times along with them. It is important to know and remember that while we can easily say that we are thankful, we truly enlighten the word when we show it. It is not enough to say that you are thankful to have a car that runs if you do not show it by keeping it clean and in tune. It is not enough to say that you are thankful for your creativity without sharing your creative talents with others. If you are truly thankful for having food in your refrigerator and pantry, then show it by not over consuming or wasting food. If you are thankful for the beauty of nature, then show it by recycling more or joining or donating to a eco-friendly organization.
Being Thankful Daily: Keep a gratitude journal and fill it with words and names of things that you are most thankful for, then define different ways in which you can show your thankfulness more often than just saying it.
Too often do we just use the word thankful in vein, very much like the word love. You can say that you love someone, but it is not until you physically show it does it really have an effect; and the same goes for when you say that you are thankful. So the next time you tell someone that you are thankful for something, make sure that you truly are by defining an action that shows how thankful you really are.
I am Thankful for this post
Word!!!
There is not much I could add to the comments already made, but I wanted to thank you for this post anyway, and to express my gratitude, I will forward this blog to non YMIB subscribers (as if there were any).
meant for me
it was a total blessing to login and read this blog today! over the weekend i heard someone speaking about the book "the secret" and went out and purchased it. can u imaging that i had never heard of this book that is life changing for me? i know that everything happens for a reason and it is not always in our time. at this time in my life i was feeling very low and pitiful and i had no self-motivation to change my circumstances but i started reading and i got it....be thankful!!! yes i have heard this principle before but it never clicked and i never fully put it into practice. i was making it harder than it needed to be and spending energy getting nowhere. i thank you for these words of wisdom and am a true witness that for me, it could not have come at a better time...thank you & God Bless!

On point
We can all use the reminder... I know I certainly can. While I may show my thankfulness of those around me, I often don't show how much I appreciate myself... the life the Creator gave to me.
I'm working to show how thankful I am of this fully functioning and healthy temple I've been Blessed with!

A good post
I am in the middle of a 28 day soul coaching online book club/program with about 30 women http://creativegoddesssoulcoaching.blogspot.com/ and every day we have to do specific soul clearing exercises. Yesterday (day 13 ) was about gratitude which and we had to write what we were grateful for which is such a powerful process when you have people witnessing your journey and gratitude. Thank you for your divine timing of this post.

This really helps me at this
This really helps me at this point in time in my life. I really appreciate this post. It has really opened my eyes to my behavior and the positive ways i could change it. The things posted were things I already knew, but to read it and reflect I believe will help me not take the things I'm thankful for and blessed to have for granted. I love this site!!!
