The Tree Of Life

When most people hear the word coconut, they usually envision images of soft sand, the smell of fresh winds breezing over the ocean, or a pink umbrella tucked inside a perfect pina-colada cocktail surrounded by a coconut shell. Well, as wonderful as that vision may sound, the coconut can be used for more than a tropical concoction on your Caribbean vacation. The coconut and it's oil has become a popular ingredient in natural body-care and very popular for aiding the internal body.

Coconuts are widely eaten by people who live in many tropical regions and has become quite popular within western natural health. Many mainstream physicians would say that coconut oil is bad for you due to it's saturated fat content, however, more natural physicians are very supportive of using coconut oil for health remedies and natural body-care, and studies have proved it's positive effects, despite what mainstream physicians are saying. The saturated fat that is found within coconuts are composed of fatty acids called medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs). Most fats that we intake are either short or long chain fatty acids, which are stored in the body's cells and is converted into body fat, however, medium chain fatty acids are stored into the liver and is instead converted into energy. Coconuts also do not contain any cholesterol and no trans-fatty acids, unlike many oils found in meats and vegetables. Trans fats are formed by a process called hydrogenation, where unsaturated vegetable oilssuch as corn, soybean, canola, sunflower, safflower are chemically altered to form a more saturated fat. You may be asking, so if they say that saturated fats are bad for you, why on earth would they want to perform a process to make lacking oils more saturated? This unnatural process is done basically to preserve unsaturated fats, however these hydrogenated oils are not natural and can be very harmful to the body! Unsaturated oils will weaken the immune system. Coconut oil is naturally and positively saturated!
