We couldn't talk about fashion without dishing out a little bit of sewing inspiration for all the creative sisters in the Circle. One of my favorite fashion projects is reconstructing thrift finds, unworn clothes, and t-shirts into customized creations that fits my style. Below are some books that I would highly recommend checking out. The possibilities of reconstructing clothing are endless and once you get the basics down, it can be quite addictive. This weekend take a drive to your local thrift store or better yet grab up some old tees, shirts, tops, and bottoms and let your creativity flow, have fun with embellishing your fresh new designs with beaded embellishments and your very own screen prints, hand painting, applique, or block prints!
If you like to sew trendy and artistic things then be sure to check out one of my favorite sites Thread Banger. They have some of the best tutorials on crafting, diy, sewing, and design. They are currently hosting a wonderful contest where the winner will receive a free Janome sewing machine...oooh! So if you want to try your hand at landing a free treat then head on over and check it out. The contest ends on May 31st 2008. I also found two great tutorials on making a button hole and sewing a simple pocket...great for beginners.
