Mothers Day: Gift Guide

So Mothers day is just around the corner! On May 11th moms will be celebrated in some of the most extravagant and simple ways, but the way that I have always loved to celebrate my mother is by giving her a handmade gift. I have included some quick ideas of mothers day gifts that you can easily make and use your creativity with. Handmade gifts are the most thoughtful and in my opinion the most special. I have also included some of my favorite items that a mother would love or you might want to pick them up for yourself, nevertheless I hope these tips get your juices flowing with creative ideas.

Leave A comment: How do you hope to celebrate Mothers day this year? What has been your favorite gift that you have either received and/or given for Mothers Day?

Mothers Day: Gift Guide

Handmade Sweets: Gourmet chocolates are nice, but handmade sweets are divine and oh so thoughtful. Try something different this year and bake your mama a pretty cake, scrumptious cookies, or half a dozen of pretty cupcakes along with a handmade card. Shell love it and best of all you made it just for her!

Breakfast In Bed? You don't have to be 8 years old and live in the same house to treat your mother to a delightful breakfast in bed. A great idea is to put together a “Breakfast In a Box” for her and ship it out. Find an inexpensive breakfast tray or better yet an unfinished one at your local crafts store and decorate it with paint, image transfers, and decopauge. Include your tray in your gift box along with a pretty saucer and tea cup, muffins, napkin, dried flowers, music, dried fruit, tea bags, etc., and of course a lovely little note or card to top it all off! Tell her to open it mothers day morning. Use raffia to accent your treats and use your creativity to make this one extra special!

Handmade Cards/Handwritten Letter: Hallmark cards say a bit but a handwritten letter beautifully packaged in lovely stationary and tied with a bow says even more. Write down all of your special memories and thoughts that only you can put into loving words!

Handmade Flower Arrangements: Flower arrangements are quite the norm but this year give making your own arrangement a try. Pick some of your mothers favorite flowers and design your own arrangement and deliver it to her with love along with a card.

Herbal Blends: Purchase some dried teas and blend your own flavors and remedies just for her. Whether its stress, depression, joint pains, energy, find the tea thats right for her. Use spice jars and fill them with your loose teas and make pretty labels to showcase the name of your tea in which you make up for her. Include a tea filter ball and a cute tea cup with this gift!

Magazine Subscriptions: okay, so this may be a bit cliché but if your mother has a specific interest such as gardening, sewing, crochet/knitting, or yoga, then subscribing to a few of her favorite glossies for a year will deliver her inspiration for the next twelve months!

Gift Cards: Gift cards are excellent when you are just not sure what to get, and I must say that if you are buying a gift card for a busy mom, then you might want to consider getting some gift cards to her favorite restaurants. This will give her a break from cooking and we all know that a few days of being free from the kitchen does a mama good!
