There is just something refreshing about hearing old songs again, whether it's from your era or well before, listening to old songs can keep you feeling young, vibrant, and can possibly keep your memories in check by taking us back to our younger years. So check in every Friday for your "Remember That" fix!
So, I have not watched The Wiz since I was a little girl, and I never really listened to the lyrics in all of the songs until recently and I am like forget The Wizard of Oz...This movie is filled with so much positive music for not only the youth but for us young at heart as well! I think I might be renting this this weekend and purchasing to add to our collection because it is a classic and is filled with talent from ear to ear. This is such a beautiful movie...forever a classic! Do you remember when you first saw The Wiz?
Okay Sisters..here is to another wonderful Friday and in the spirit of this post, I wish you all a life that is filled with magic, enchanting wisdom, and one filled with the spirit of a child..full of love, purity, and joy!
Yes It Is!
The Wiz Is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the The Wizard of Oz. More innovative and creative and relatable than the 1st one. My favorite scenes are the Poppies as prostitutes and when Dorthy and Em first enter Oz. The costumes were so rich and classy."You got to be seen in green". "I wouldn't be caught dead in red". I cry every time when Lena Horne sings "If You Believe". I think Erykah Badu did a version of that song.LOL.Why does the leader of the Flying Monkeys look like Lil John. Check out a sister girl I see in passing version of The WIZ

One of my all time faves!
This is really relevant for me right now because not only do I watch this with my soon-to-be four year old princess, but my middle school students have been reworking this into a play about what "home" means for them. Each Saturday, they faithfully show up, write lines, dance, sing and have a fabulous time.
And to top it all off, I work right around the corner from where they filmed the scene when Dorothy runs out into the street and is sucked up into the tornado!
Have a fabulous weekend all!
