Faith Ringgold

I have been a fan of Ringgold's art for quite some time now. In fact, she was one of the biggest inspirations for me to become interested in quilting as an art-form. She is full of colorful symbolism, real stories, and creativity, and I love how she infuses the history of telling a story with quilt designs with actual stories and poems themselves. So next time you think of quilting, think outside of it being square or something hat only your grandmother does, and incorporate all sorts of shapes, word, and mediums in your pieces! Also, be sure to check out one of her stories in which she wrote called: “How The People Became Color Blind”. It is a “colorful” story about being color blind, or free of color prejudice. Enjoy!
