How do you make your guests feel special? We all have family members and friends who we entertain in our homes. Whether it be your parents or a close friend, the art of welcoming your guests into your home should be just as special as the ones who are coming to visit. Turn your guest room into a mini spa/getaway that not only your guests will appreciate, but where you can also get away to every now and then in between those stressful moments!
Here are a few unique and essential tips that you should include in your guest room or space and that are especially special for those sister friends that are visiting from out of town:
Comfort Zones: Providing robes for your guests will provide lots of comfort and will make your guests feel comfortable. You can either buy terry cloth robes or if it is during the warmer months, lay out some airy linen or cotton robes. Include a nice pair of slippers to top it off! Be sure to have some fresh and soft bedding(pillow top mattress are a plus), firm and soft pillows(include extra if needed). Make sure that you have a small oscillating fan handy as well. Having at least one comfortable and plush chair in the room will provide a nice lounging and resting spot that would be great for reading.

Rest & Relaxation: make sure you have a small music player in their room and include a small selection of music that offers relaxing tones as well as any other cd's that suits the taste of your guest.
Mini Tea & Snack Bar: Keep a coffee maker and a pretty tea pot and tea glasses/mugs in your guest room. Include some fresh loose tea flavors that your guests can combine to make their own tea blends. Try to have at least 4 different teas, such as: chamomile, black tea, peppermint, African roobios, lemongrass, etc. The sky is the limit to the combinations that you can include. Try to match the flavors with your guests personality, and if they are their for a relaxing weekend, then be sure to include teas that are great for relaxation. Be sure to include coffee filters for placing your loose teas in, raw sugar and honey, and some nice scoops/spoons that your guests can scoop the teas up with. Be creative with your containers. Small wooden serving trays that are divided into sections make a beautiful presentation.
Include a small fridge in the bedroom and stock it with bottled water and any other refreshing beverages and fresh fruits. Lay out a small basket of dry snacks to suit their tastes. Dried cranberries, chocolates, and granola make great treats. And if you really want to get fancy, include a tea cake set and place some sweet treats on it for their indulging pleasure!
Aromatherapy & Light: Candles and aroma are a given when making your guest room warm and inviting. Choose candles that not only smell good, but that look good as well. Keep the visual stimulation alive for your guest. Along with your candles include some reed diffusers or incense that give off a fresh and light scent. Unless you know for sure that your guests are proned to pungent and spicy aromas, then you should choose light floral or herbal fragrances. Make sure to have some fresh flowers and plants around the room as well.

Rise & Shine: You should definitely include an alarm clock, because your room will be so comforting that your guests may oversleep! If they are into yoga, then have a nice yoga mat and yoga video or cd available for their use! You can keep your yoga mat stored in a pretty yoga bag. Make sure that you keep some fresh white towels and rags, as well as some handmade body care products such as handmade soaps in the bathroom that have been set aside just for them. Keep some votive candles in the bath as well.
The creative ideas that you can come up with and personalize for your guest is infinite. Show your next guest how much they are welcome into your home by offering them a unique cozy, warm, and creative place to rest their head.
