As I turn on the television, my computer, or open the newspaper I am bombarded with the latest Brittany Spears-gone-crazy news. I must say in the past year of listening to this exploited mess about the once pop-princess, I have gone from utter disgust to humbling sympathy for the girl (Madonna sure put one on her). All this media coverage about Brittany got me thinking about one of OUR own Princesses who seems to be going through a few struggles, Ms. Lauryn Hill. Since the break-up of the Fugees, her marriage to Rohan, her Unplugged CD, and outlandish antics on stage, critics have had a field day bashing our sista from every direction. She has been called a racist, emotionally unstable and all sorts of things. I know, I know criticism is a price of fame, but when I saw an interview with Wyclef on BET's the Black Carpet, and he stated that Lauryn need 'professional help' that was it for me. I was convinced that OUR sista was going through it. Think back for a minute. Where were you when you first heard L Boogie spit on the the Fugee's 'Blunted on Reality" or heard her rip it on "Killing Me Softly"? What dude where you dealing with when "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" came out and that album got you through? (lol) All I'm saying is Lauryn was there for us, so let's show some love for Lauryn. Let's not abandon her like they're doing Brittany. She is with child at the moment and dealing with a relationship that is not balanced. Lauryn is a beautiful and talented woman with so much to give to this dying world. She is also just like you and me, in need of healing. I am not questioning the cause of her current state, I just want her to come back with a peaceful state of mind. (I understand she has a album that keeps getting pushed back. hmmm ) So as you are conducting your prayers and sending energy to those in need, show some love for Lauryn. Pray that she comes back to us with a renewed Spirit. OUR Princess, OUR Sista....
P.S. I believe there is an on-line petition that can be signed to keep Lauryn's and other artists albums from being pushed back repeatedly. If anyone knows what website please reply and if I find it first I'll do the same. Peace!
GREAT POST...
Great post my sista! I love Ms. Lauryn Hill's old and new music. I agree with you all.
I don't think anything is wrong with Ms. Lauryn Hill. I feel that God is working on her from the inside. I am so happy for her to be finally be free all the famous bs. She is now living her life the way God may have wanted for her. She is always in my prayers. Ms. Hill even stated that she is now happier than ever.
As for Brittiney I feel that she has a great deal of pressure on her. She needs to stop and be still. Pray and meditate. We all need to pray for her. Pray for the her little children that need to loved without all of the issues and fighting. I will keep Brittiney and her children in my prayers as well.
My sista I send you all love and peace of mind.

LOSE YOURSELF!
Let me say that this almost brought me to tears and Thank you sista for posting this. I love music because of its message and the messenger. My family thinks I'm crazy and I'm weird because I go against the grain. I don't do what "society" thinks is normal. I am off beat and LOVE myself for following my heart and my spirit and NOT society. I told my family that I wish that I can go out in the middle of nowhere and meditate and gain closeness with the most high and align myself and fast. They looked at me like I was crazy. My goal in life is not to be Beyonce (nothing against her) or anyone really but to be a light and worthy in HIS eyes. When I cut all my hair off to go natural my mom almost cried. Society fear what they don't understand and they don't want to understand. They just want you to be "normal" like them and do what they do and go by their robotic system. Not me. I love my black people, I love my sistas, I love my family, I love health, peace, creativity, justice, strength, and the most high and to love HIM you have to "LOSE YOURSELF". Give all yourself. People are so selfish, insecure, hypnotized, it's sad. Anyway, check this out. Our sista Lauren's interview.
From this one broadcast, all of a sudden people who appreciated my music thought that there was something wrong with who I was and what I represented,” says Lauryn. Instead of letting a publicist act on her behalf, Lauryn, furious and very hurt, called a radio station herself to deny the charge. “I said, ‘How can I possibly be a racist? My music is universal music. And I believe in God. If I believe in God, then I have to love all of God’s creations. There can be no segregation.‘”
“Let me clarify this right now,” Lauryn responds forcefully. “I am not a racist. I love people who love God. I love good people. If you’re a good person with a good heart, you’re cool with me. And I hope I’m cool with you. There’s nothing racist about anything in my heart.“
Be Virtuous and Wise,
Shalom,
Princess Ominah
Give Thanks!
Your conviction is so beautiful. That is what is needed to do the things that we do as Healers of the Earth. I am inspired by your words. Thank you for posting the article as well. Losing ourselves isn't such a bad thing. Sometimes it's the only way to find our TRUE selves.
Have a beautiful and blessed week!
Much Love,

Great post
Maybe it's because I live abroad that I am not up to date on the whole lauryn situation the last news I got through was about Lauryn verbally "attacking" the vatican. I applaud her for that as a former Roman Catholic (officially stepped out of the faith 6 months ago) I have to say that all that she said (+ some more) are the exact reasons for me to abandon the religion that has been the cornerstone of my family for generations. I pray that whatever is going on with her that she will overcome it and that it will make her stronger. Listening to the lyrics of Lose myself I know she will be fine!
Lose Myself Lyrics
As for Britney I truly hope and pray that this lost little sister will be left alone by everyone taking advantage of her and that she can retreat and focus on self and children.
Lose Myself!
Chayil, Thank you for posting those lyrics. I think we can all relate. I know she will be fine as well. After all, that strong, female energy is no match for any negative media or personal issues that she is facing. That goes for all of us. When we learn to embrace ourselves and our energy as true Spiritual power then there is no stopping it. And sometimes we have to lose ourselves in order to do that.
As for Brittany, I hope she bounces back too, but everyone is draining her. Let's keep in mind she has not been the same since that kiss with Madonna (Forget Dr. Phil she needs a Root Doctor!) and even she abandoned her. The media saw it as Madonna passing the torch. She passed a lot more than that. Now the girl has gone institutionalized crazy, which is usually what happens when theres a root put on someone. None the less I hope she makes it out okay, which may be a little hard to do if she does not recognize the source of her trouble first.

In total agreement!
My heart has always gone out to Lauryn. I must say that I loved her Unplugged album. I felt it was a breath of fresh air to see a sister come out in her most real form and share her gift. She wasn't insane it was society that wasn't ready for her. Lauryn has always been ahead of her time. Now in regards to her personal life I don't know what's going on, but I will say that going from the not having children and being a member of one of the hottest groups during the Fugees reign - to having a husband and children......yeah, I'll say that would be a little challenging. With that being said, I'll definitely keep Lauryn in my prayers.

Changes and being female, mother, wife, and daughter
Having experienced my own changes I can relate. Nothing but love for Ms. Hill and the folk within her circle. Off to visit the site shared!
I pray for the predators that hunt me.
Petition Info!
There seems to be a new trend (or maybe not so new) with artist's albums being pushed back repeatedly. We need to let the big name labels know that they can't rob us or the artists or our right to good music. I have found two website for both Lauryn Hill and Maxwell (The last I heard, his album was suppose to be released in early spring. We'll see!) Please take time to go to these website and help make a difference.

thankyou for this post
thankyou for this post sis.
it was well stated. ill also do my best to encourage sistahs to pray for lauryn.
True indeed..
It's so easy to judge people but walking in their shoes is a different story. I too continue to Love and support Lauryn despite everything. Relationships can drive you crazy and the stress, pressure and isolation that worldwide attention can bring is beyond what I can imagine.Lauryn is a Goddess but also a human being like the rest of us, fragile. Look how many talented, creative & successful people do drugs, get into legal trouble or commit suicide. I will continue to pray for Lauryn as well, Thanks for this post!
