My favorite rapper couldn't have said it better, " I know I can be what I want to be, If I work hard at it, I'll be where I want to be." Last weekend was the photo-shoot for the cover and promotional ads for my magazine. After a hardworking 9 hours, the pictures turned out absolutely amazing! I was very nervous that whole weekend because I wanted everything to turn out perfect and in my eyes it did. On top of worrying about the photo-shoot, I moved to a new house, had an 8 page freelance assignment to do, and 2 final projects due for my classes. I accomplished all of these things by Monday. So yea, I had a little bit of superwoman syndrome.

I'm still trying to take in the fact that I'm actually starting my own magazine. When I first told myself to go head and work on accomplishing my dream, I told myself that there was no way I could do so because I was working a full-time job, I was in school, and I was broke as hell. After receiving much inspiration from a friend of mine (Renika McQueen-Echols, Go to Truth Bookstore at Northland Mall in Southfield, MI and buy her latest novel, Deceitful Passions) and my mother I decided to go for it! I'm still amazed at how I put everything together with little money and it turned out fabulous. I must mention that with the support of my family and the awesome models and participants of the photo-shoot, who were so patient with me, I was able to pull this thing off.

I'm still pushing to get this magazine off the ground. I intended for it be launched in January of 08'. Since it was a new year I thought the launch would be perfect but, that didn't happen. I'm fine with that. I'm not going to rush at all. I'm quite confident that everything will be in place in due time. If you have something that you've always wanted to do, just do it! That's the attitude that I've had while putting together this magazine.
