I want to Give Thanks to the sistas here who have been giving my book "The Art of Being a Goddess", rave reviews! I am really happy to know that you have been able to enjoy and encompass some of the ideas, practices and spirit of the book.

"As A Woman Thinketh, So is She"

I really want to share a personal meditation with all of you because it is something that I have struggled with yet it's my great spiritual lesson. The concept of abundance. Most of you know I have my own business and I am also a teacher but I have always needed more. More money, more time, more ideas, more love, etc,etc.
I have never been materialistic, But somehow for most of my life I have been in the "never have,always needing" situation. My parents were/are working class immigrants from Haiti.We lived in a decent neighborhood and always had the basics, it wasn't easy but we made the best and sometimes did without. Since I have been on my own I have struggled and gotten by but I have never been financially secure. Starting my own business is the best thing I ever did but it has been a huge investment. I really have reached a point in my life where I must get out of debt and into financial freedom!

Am I the only one who wishes more of our sisters on myspace would update there profile and become more active on YMIB? I'm a late-bloomer/newcomer myself so I didn't realize how Awesome it was, but NOW...fagettaboutit, this is the sh**! I know we are all really busy, but we gotta invest a little time in this too, Goddesses this is "Our Thang".

Recently I deleted my main myspace page because I felt uninspired, bored and annoyd by the thing. It is great for introducing new people and reuniting friends but it's become a liitle stale for me. I feel like it's a job or an event that I have to just show my face at, lol. I guess I just needed something more creative and intimate to stimulate my interest again. So I am reinventing myself here and keeping a small "apartment" on myspace for my art & such.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been feeling a bit stressed and a little overwhelmed. I've been juggling a lot of different projects like freelance art jobs, my company, house cleaning, my relationship, plans for the future. It's just been too much, too many deadlines and too many people counting on me to deliver. I realize now that I bit off more than I could chew and it was not working out well for anyone involved. At one point I just felt so daunted by the amount of work that had backed up on me that I was immobilized.

As some of you know I have made the transition from locs and wear my hair in a short afro now. I went natural when I was in the 11th grade in High school. I had become conscious during those years and became moved to cut off my perm and rediscover my hair in it's natural state.
I loced my hair for the 1st time back in 1994 and although I was happy with the step I had made, I was never completely satisfied with the outcome. You see I had gone to a professional loctician to start my locs and she started me with these scraggily two strand twists. From the 1st day I knew it wasn't right. At that time I had not embraced Rastafari but still I wanted a less manicured appearance. I have allways been a roots dawta at heart.

My name is Marjorie better known by my company name "Yes Lioness". I am a Fine Artist, illustrator, Entrepreneur and Art teacher.

I feel that I have been Blessed because I have always known what my dreams were and I have pursued them passionatly. My purpose in life is to share my gifts with others whether that is through Art or Spiritual insight. I have a book coming out on October 1st called "The Art of Being a Goddess". It has truly been a labor of Love for the past 2 years and it is filled with empowering and helpful advise from myself and many other noteworthy people over the ages. It also contains my artwork and many personal illustrations relating to the journey of Womanhood.
