Brooklyn, stand up! =)

Peace and Greeting to all!

It's been a minute since I've posted - it's just been that crazy lately. I will try to blog when it calms a bit this week just to bring everyone up to speed.

Welcome to all the newbies! And What's up to all the oldies-but-goodies, *smile*

I'll be traveling to NYC on business in November and being that I'm a chronic-planner, I'm beginning my travel plans now! I'll be in meetings for 2 days in Manhattan, and then I plan to venture out to Brooklyn for another 2days for me!

Do you live in Brooklyn? Can you recommend a nice (safe and clean, not plush and overpriced, lol) hotel? Can you recommend nice African/Black owned vegan/vegetarian restaurants, book stores, shops, etc? Can you tell me where to STAY AWAY FROM? lol Let's keep it real!

ooking forward to visiting NYC again. It'll probably be my last before I leave the states.

Thank you in advance for helping a sista out!

Yours,

Yahfa

Finding the balance?

Shalom!

Peace and Love Sisters. I hope that these words find you in a place of peace and wellness.

I'm writing today in hopes of receiving some words of wisdom from my sisters. I have struggled for some time now, finding a good, working, healthy balance between everyone and everything that requires my attention.

I am in a very healthy, loving, and growing relationship that is still in it's infancy in terms of time (less than a year). However, we work, live, move, love like we have been together for years. I am a mother of a 9-year-old boy who requires the basic necessities every child needs, but also substantially more. I'm constantly reminding him of what he has to do to get ready for school, to get ready for bed, his chores, his responsibility at school, etc. It seems that I never have enough time to be sure that he's on top of everything. I currently (and have been for the last 10 years) work outside the home, full time, 40hours per week, in corporate amerikkka. This is by no means my long-term plan. I plan to work for myself and I'm giving myself a year to get that up and running full-speed.

What are those numbers on your fruit? And what do they mean?

It's common to walk in your grocery or produce store and find signs announcing that the fruit before you is organic: "Organic Peaches - $3.99lb", but we will NEVER see a sign that confesses that the fruit you're about to purchase is genetically modified. Could you image a sign that reads "Genetically modified peaches - $1.99lb"?

While it may not be spelled out for us, those little numbers, on those little annoying stickers on our fruit communicates more than a PLU for the cashier. Those numbers also communicates whether you're purchasing organic, conventional or genetically engineered/modified fruit.

Add this to you the bottom of your grocery list until you memorize - your life depends on it!

Conventional Fruit Labels
Four digits and does not start with 9
** mostly starting with the digit 4
EXAMPLE: A conventionally grown banana would be: 4011

I made a RAW Live Cheesecake!

Shalom Sisters!

I made a raw/live strawberry cheesecake this weekend and I must say I am super-frantic! LOL! When making it I didn't know how it would turn out, first because I hadn't made anything like that before and secondly because I had to substitute a couple of the ingredients. But it turned out great!

I will post the recipe asap! I can't wait until you all try it for yourselves! *smile*

Talk soon,
YAHfa

Feel so good...

Peace & Love Sistren -

I don't have much to say other than to share that I feel so good this morning!

Did I win the lottery? Am I on vacation? Better yet, did I quit my job in corporate amerikkka? Did my DOE (date of exodus) move up? The answer to all of these questions is "no". But I can still stand up and exclaim that I feel GREAT!

I am in alignment with the God of Creation more so today than ever before. Being that this is the case, I am in harmony with a Higher Force, the universe, the people around me and myself! No conflict exists in my space, in my realm, and for this I must be thankful.

What's so funny is that the things that appears to be bad, are complete Blessings! The sister that was I a few months ago would not be able to comprehend this, let alone state it with complete conviction! But that was then...

RAW Kale Greens

Shalom!

As promised, here's my tried and true recipe for Raw Kale Greens!

Marinated Kale

12 cups kale

1/4 cup liquid aminos

½ cup olive oil

1 med tomato

¼ cup diced onion

1tbsp onion powder

2 garlic clove

¼ cup nut. Yeast

(blend olive oil, nutritional yeast and garlic)

**I prepare for folks who LOVE it spicy, so I add "hot" sesame seed oil. You only need a small amount of it. Experiment and enjoy!**

*Please note, that while it calls for 1/2 cup of olive oil, I don't use quite that much... so be sure to adjust the recipe as it fits your taste. I know sisters who add red bell peppers, more garlic, etc. So go for it. One thing I guarantee is that it's delicious!

Next time they ask you how you get your protein...

...tell them that you find protein in not only your beans, nuts, tofu, but also your herbs! Spirulina, or blue-green algae, is a single-celled algae considered to be a superfood. High in protein, 65% vs 28% for beef, high in B vitamins and trace minerals.

Spirulina is rich in an unusual blue pogment called "phycocyanin", knwon to enhance mental functioning by drawing together and arranging amino acids in the brain for neutrotransmitter formation. It has also shown the capacity to inhibit the growth of cancer colonies in the body.

Spirulina contains the healthy unsaturated fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which supports prostaglandin, a hormonelike substance known to promote health and immunity.

Just wanted to share this with you because I always knew Spirulina was great for you, but now I know the details of it! Add Spirulina to your juicing recipes, especially the green ones!

Ya'll Bare with Me

My Spirit moves me to this place... I was doing some research online, came across a few message boards and immediately felt this void, I have to get up and running here. I work full time in corporate amerikkka (for now) so it's hard to find the time to feed my Spirit the way I have for so long.

Anyway, sistahs, bare with me until I figure the site out, and make it a habit to be here daily to share me with all of you. I look forward to receiving all of the beautiful energy that's in abundance here.

Much love to my sistahs,

Shalom,

M
