What phase are you in?

Last Sunday I visited my grandmother and me being a Hebrew Israelite, I usually don't go to church but this time i did. The pastor used an analogy we all use about being a butterfly. Going from caterpillar to butterfly. The interesting points that he brought to my attention about the phases the caterpillar goes through was the fact that once that caterpillar becomes a butterfly that butterfly can no longer eat what it once ate when it was a caterpillar. Its a new creature now. it looks different, eats differently, is different. So I ask myself, am i truly a butterfly. Have I completely given up my caterpillar ways?

A Black Woman Smile

My mother is good for sending me junk emails. Today she sent me something special. If you haven't seen it, this is spoken word spoken by Ty Gray. This is for you...

Black History Report Re-post

I just want to share with the sisters here an important report my sister was assigned this past weekend. The assignment was for her to write a letter to her principal explaining the reasons why her school should have a Black History course. This is her report:

Black History Course
By: Destiny Taylor

Dear Mrs. Gathers,

Do you know about your history? What about the history of black people? Besides the obvious black history leaders, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and Harriet Tubman, I know very little about the history of my African American ancestors because it's been watered down. In addition to that, it's imperative for me to have someone to admire in my history. That's why I believe we should have a black history course at Sandtown Middle School.

Are you a MUSIC FANATIC like me?

If you are a music fanatic like me let me tell you that I found this really cool site that I became so addicted to. The site is www.last.fm and it is awesome. Just sign up, it's free, type in your favorite artist or song and it pops up. The coolest thing to me about it, well, one of the coolest things about it is that you're also able to find local artist as well. I have my new playlist from the site on my page. Check it out and let me know if you feeling it!

Sending my Love

This place has been my favorite site to visit since I stumbled on. How? I have no idea. I just wanted to place in this blog that I love the sistas here and the energy that each of you bring. It's so wonderful to find a place where there are so many positive, beautiful, creative and just genuinely real women. So to all the women here on YMIB.com I just want to send my love and extend open arms to you all and I just pray that you keep shinning! If you're in the Atlanta area, drop me a note! My favorite place here to chill, relax, and have good conversation is House of IntegriTEA in the Inman Park area (they have a white earl grey that is sooo delicious with agave nectar...mmmm...ahhhh!) and the sistas that own the spot are so sweet and so real! If you're in the area maybe we can meet up. I would love to start my own book club, local sister circle, or something along those lines (not to take away from YMIB.com of course). But I digress...Sistas stay strong and beautiful and I am thankful for a site like this. Now...let me get back to jammin' to my playlist! Sending my love to the circle.

& Beautiful
