DEDICATION TO MY BEAUTIFUL WOMB-MATE (BIG SISTER - DESIREE OF LIGHT)

I just want to share with this forum of sisterhood that I first learned TRUE sisterhood from you!

Even though I got on your nerves when we were little because I ALWAYS followed you around... I knew that I was in safe place because you always had my back.

To this day - you protect me - physically, spiritually and emotinally. So I just want to say thank you for:
*teaching me how to jump double dutch
*roller skating down the hallway in Cypress!
*cornrolling my hair until I feel asleep on your lap sucking my thumb
*teaching me how to cook breakfast because you was tired of me harrassing you in the morning
*teaching me how to do addition and subtraction on your owl calculator when I was 4
*meditating with me (you in Arizona and me in Florida)
*painting beautiful pictures for me
*giving me massages and pedicures
*giving me two beautiful nephews
*being ready to f*** somebody up on my behalf (LOL)
*LOVING ME!!
I'm sending you sniff sniff sugah! :)

Reactions to the HBO Documentary - The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo

Sisters,

Have any of you seen the HBO Documentary - The Greatest Silence : Rape in the Congo? It was a very HARD and PAINFUL documentary to watch for so many reasons....

Those women look like us.. Those women could be us...Those women are us....

Those brothers look like ours...those brothers could be ours...Those brothers are ours.

Words cannot express the horror....Tears can not flow enough...and only hearts can triumph in the strength that we know all too well to be the foundation of Womanhood. But I am tired that we have to be so strong all the time.

It was difficult to select a category for this blog...does it fall under culture and politics, or everyday living (for the women of the Congo and worldwide), parenting...?

The Definitive Answer

Dedication to my Shango-Oshun Warrior who knows how to love with passion and sweetness...

You sometimes ask me if I love you
At times you honestly want an answer
Other times you want assurance
Here is the definitive answer about my love for you....

I love you like Afrikans love a tight drumbeat
I love you like Harriet loved freedom
I love you like Malcolm loved internal & external revolution
I love you like Ruby loves Ossie
I love you like Afrikans love bright colors
I love you like Grandma loves to feed others
I love you like Africans love to flip a style
I love you like Miles loved jazz
I love you like Bob loved Haile Selassie
I love you like Afrikans love self-adornment
I love you like Zumbi loved Palmares
I love you like ancestors loved future generations
I love you like Obatala loves cleanliness
I love you like Ogun loves work
I love you like Oshun loves love
I love you the only way I know how
I love you as deeply as Afrikan woman loved their men before me
Timelessly
Completely
Soulfully
Divinely
and above all
My love for you is without comparison

Dedication to the youth.....

Please listen to the song "Beautiful" on my playlist. The song is by Ise Lyfe, a brother out of Oakland with much maturity and truth!I dedicate it to the youth.
There is a short poem that he says before the song that's not on the playlist. It goes...

She is so beautiful
But don't know she is beautiful (2x)

She look in the mirror
Pretty eyes, lips, and nose
She looks in the mirror but don't see her soul
So out the door she go not knowing her worth
All that she knows is her shoes match her purse.

To get the rest of the poem....pick up his CD. Money well spent!

A reminder to you - You are beautiful! Please pass the message on to the young people in your life...they may not ever heard that they are beautiful. Much love. Let me know what you think!

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!

Does anyone know about the path of Oshun - Ibu Oddoi? I welcome any info - all I know is she stands for the dry river bed and her crown contains a sunflower. Thank you (Modupe) in advance!

True Mediumship....

I received this message and would like to share it with you all.....

On New Year's Day, my spirit felt compelled to go to the water. I went to the beach at day-clean and gave my offerings to Yemonja and Olokun asking for prosperity, health, abundance, and a strong foundation for my new year. After I said my prayers and gave my offerings of fruit and molasses I saw a dolphin! I was so excited and honored for the confirmation because I NEVER see a dolphin. Understand EVERY TIME I go to the beach I'm asking the dolphins to pay me a visit. So needless to say I was very excited. I went home and looked up dolphin in my animal speaks book and found the message on time. One of the messages is to go to the water and ask for what you need. So I did that -I am fortunate to have the opportunity to have a beautiful lake - Lake Ella- close to where I live. I was sitting near the water - it was such a BEAUTY-FILLED day! It was about 75 degrees with a nice breeze flowing. So again I said my prayers and watched my animal friends play and just be! I received two messages:
